New Delhi, 4 August. Against the continued neglect of student-related demands by the Delhi University administration, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the ABVP-led Delhi University Students’ Union have launched a hunger strike starting today. This hunger strike has begun on the 15th day of the ongoing indefinite sit-in protest, which has been taking place since 21 July, and will continue until all demands are fulfilled.
Those participating in the hunger
strike include Delhi University Students’ Union Vice President Bhanu Pratap Singh and Secretary Mitravinda Karnwal, along with Yash Dabas, Aryan Maan, Govind Tanwar, Prabal Pratap Singh, Nitin Tanwar, Rohit Dedha, Deepika Jha, Lakshya Raj Singh, and Vantika Singh.
Sarthak Sharma, ABVP Delhi State Secretary, said, ABVP’s fight is not limited to a few demands, but is an effort to establish a culture of transparency, accountability, and student welfare in Delhi University. Until the administration makes concrete decisions, our movement will continue, and we will remain on hunger strike.
Delhi University Students’ Union Vice President Bhanu Pratap Singh said, We have repeatedly tried to engage with the administration regarding students’ issues, but we have only been met with neglect. When the administration refuses to listen, adopting a democratic path like hunger strike becomes our compulsion. This movement has now reached a decisive stage, and we will not move until our demands are accepted.
